Fragrance can play a big part too. It can evoke a memory, affect our mood or our emotions.  In this fast paced world we now live in, scent can be crucial in helping us to slow down, feel more, reconnect with the world around us and fire our creativity.  The scent of Rock Salt & Driftwood reminds me of growing up on the Kent Coast with days spent on the beach during the summer holidays. Also known as agarwood, it is an essential oil extracted from the agar tree, which is found in the forests of Southeast Asia. It has an intense, smoky and woody aroma.

And it is one of the most precious and expensive ingredients in the world!

Why is it so expensive?

When the agar tree becomes infected by mould, it produces a fragrant resin to protect itself. The resin extracts are known as oud. It’s estimated that only 1 in 10 trees in the wild become infected with mould, making it a rare commodity.
